In 2013, I began cataloging fruits, vegetables, nuts, fungi, and more I observed on street carts, in markets, and everywhere else. It led to the creation of Nigeria's first seasonal produce calendar in 2016, and several iterations since then - twice in 2017, and once in 2018.
Why? To know, understand, build a framework around Nigerian fruits and vegetables, also to prepare oneself for the joy of the seasons, to enjoy some of the tastiest produce in the world.
In 2019, I began working on a catalog in Airtable, expanding the details for each entry to include botanical and nutritional information, as much as I could find. Today, in collaboration with Modé, we're sharing a resource that has meaning and promise for Nigerians and others, at home in Nigeria, and the World over. Enjoy.

For sometime now, I’ve been wanting to eat more local produce but I didn’t know how to go about it. I would eat the same things over and over again which became monotonous and fall back into buying imported produce. Fortunately, I discovered Ozoz Sokoh of Kitchen Butterfly’s research on Nigeria’s Seasonal Produce.
Sokoh’s research was a great foundational resource to build upon. Even though her documentation was extremely informative I wanted to create database that could easily be updated and manoeuvre through. That’s why I created this platform.
I’ve been fortunate to have Ozoz Sokoh join in collaborating with me in this on going project.

We are hoping that this is only the starting point. We would love this to be a continual and collaborative project.

So please if you’d like to be listed as a supplier, have any information about certain produce or have any suggestions to improve this database please contact me through my social platforms or +234 909 215 3879. I hope this platform will be beneficial to you as it has been to me thus far. Thank you.
